If you’re doing a multi-step skincare routine twice a day, using professional grade products, eating skin nourishing foods and getting monthly facials, you are already on your way to achieving flawless skin. But even while being on your A-game with your skincare regimen, you can still feel like your progress is slow or your skin is lacking that “lit-from-within” glow that you so desire. While there are many products out there that can help to improve your skin's health and appearance, there are also some simple habits that can make a big difference.

Your daily habits, even ones you may not be aware of, play a huge role in the overall outcome of your skincare endeavors. Here are our 5 Flawless Skin Habits that will help you achieve results faster:

1. Change Your Pillowcase Frequently

Changing your pillowcase frequently is one of the easiest ways to improve your skin's health. Your pillowcase can accumulate dirt, oil, and bacteria, which can transfer to your skin while you sleep. This can lead to acne breakouts and other skin problems. Aim to change your pillowcase at least once a week, and more often if you sweat a lot while sleeping or if you have particularly oily or acne-prone skin.

If you suffer from dry or irritated skin, consider switching to a silk pillowcase. Silk is less abrasive on the skin than cotton, and can help maintain the moisture content of your skin, leaving you glowing and hydrating when you wake up, as if you just applied your moisturizer!

2. Wash Your Face with Cool Water

Washing your face with cool water is an essential skincare habit for flawless skin. Hot water can strip your skin of its natural oils, which can lead to dryness and irritation. Cool water, on the other hand, can help to soothe your skin and reduce inflammation. Additionally, cool water can help to tighten your pores, which can reduce the appearance of acne and other blemishes.

If you prefer to wash your face in the shower, be sure not to rinse your skin directly under the hot water, as this can severely dehydrate the skin.

3. Sleep On Your Back

Sleeping on your back instead of your side can help to prevent wrinkles and other signs of aging. When you sleep on your side, the weight of your head can cause wrinkles to form on the side of your face that is pressed against the pillow. If you’re starting to notice lines in your chest, this can also be from sleeping on your side.

Stomach sleepers are also at risk of ironing wrinkles into their skin while they sleep. Sleeping on your stomach can cause wrinkles to form on your forehead and around your mouth.

By sleeping on your back, you can help to prevent these wrinkles from forming. Place a pillow under your knees to support your lower back for a wrinkle-free slumber!

4. Wash Your Body After Rinsing Your Conditioner

Washing your body in the shower after rinsing out your conditioner can help to prevent body acne. Conditioners are formulated with heavy, occlusive ingredients that are necessary for sealing our hair cuticle, but can leave a residue on your skin, which can clog your pores and lead to acne breakouts. To prevent this, make sure to rinse out your conditioner thoroughly and then wash your body with a gentle cleanser. This will help to remove any residue and prevent acne breakouts.

5. Keep A Travel Size SPF In Your Purse

Keeping a travel size SPF in your purse to apply to your hands while driving can help to protect your skin from sun damage. The sun's rays can penetrate through car windows, which can lead to sun damage and premature aging of the skin. By applying SPF to your hands while driving, you can help to protect your skin and prevent wrinkles and other signs of aging.

Your friends will be sure to thank you for having emergency SPF on hand for an impromptu beach day!
