We all have that one friend who was blessed with the most naturally flawless skin.  Of course the second she recommends a product to help with your acne, you rush to try it. Inevitably, it just doesn’t work for you…

Everyone’s skin is different, especially when it comes to acne prone skin. Not all acne is created equal! What works for your friend’s breakouts may not work for yours, and vice versa. But determining what kind of acne you have and which products will work best is nearly impossible for an untrained eye.

Here at Flawless, we consider ourselves Acne Experts. We’ve created 3 distinct Acne Regimen Kits that each target a different type of acne. In this article, we’ll help you determine which type of acne you have and which kit you should try to achieve clearer, more flawless skin in just 30 days!

Our 3 Acne Regimen Kits featuring Vivant Skin Care

Which Type of Acne Do You Have?

Inflamed vs. Non-Inflamed

The main differentiator between types of acne is the level of inflammation present. Whether your acne is inflamed or not will determine what ingredients will work best for your skin.

How can you tell the if your acne is inflamed or not? Let’s compare two extremes: a blacked and a cyst.

A blackhead is flat and is usually skin colored or slightly brown. There’s no pus on the surface of the skin and it doesn’t hurt to touch. This is considered non-inflamed.

A cystic pimple is painful, red and swollen. Sometimes it might come to the surface and form a pustule, other times it stays a firm, under the skin pump that hurts to touch. This is inflamed acne.

Inflamed Acne usually has one of the following qualities:

-Red

-Tender to the touch

-Pustules

-Cysts

If this sounds like you, you have Inflamed Acne.

Non-Inflamed Acne usually looks like:

-Blackheads

-Texture and little bumps under the skin that do not hurt to touch

-Clogged pores that never seem to come to the surface

It’s important to note that most people have a combination of Inflamed and Non-Inflamed acne. When choosing which Acne Regimen Kit is best for you, choose based on what the majority of your acne looks like.

If you constantly have deep blackheads and little bumps under the skin, and get an inflamed cyst only around your period, go with the Non-Inflamed Acne Kit.

If you always have multiple cysts and pustules at once, but get blackheads on your nose and chin, go with the Inflamed Kit.

Acne Kit Deep Dive

Let’s take a look inside each Acne Regimen Kit and see why each is formulated to be effective for different types of acne:

Acne Regimen Kit #1 for Non-Inflamed Acne

Sold out

Deep blackheads, under the skin textured bumps and congestion need to be exfoliated out of the skin, and dead skin build up needs to be slowed down to prevent the acne from returning. That’s why Acne Kit #1 is made with Mandelic Acid and Retinoid.

The cleanser included in this kit is the 3-in-1 Mandelic Acid Exfoliating Cleanser. This is a gentle scrub with a mild percentage of Mandelic Acid, an alpha-hydroxy acid that is ideal for clearing clogged pores and acne causing bacteria.

A gentle scrub helps to thin the top layer of dead skin, allowing those deep rooted blackheads and clogged pores to make their way to the surface more easily so they can clear out.

The Skin Nourishing Toner also included in this kit is a mild hydrating toner with 1% Mandelic Acid to keep the skin healthy and balanced while again working to increase exfoliation and skin cell turnover.

This kit includes two different treatment serums:

8% Mandelic Acid 3-in-1 Serum

A dramatically different AHA experience synergistically formulated to target the top three trouble spots—acne, aging, irregular pigmentation—in one simple, unsurpassed serum that’s safe for all skin tones.

Derm-A-Gel

A transformative, targeted corrector serum for skin new to Vitamin A treatment. This patented, lightweight formula works to boost cellular metabolism, reduce fine lines, promote a more even skin tone, and clear blemishes, all while nourishing skin with anti-inflammatory and moisturizing ingredients.

Together, these serums help to clear existing congestion and regulate the production of dead skin cells, preventing them from clogging the pores.

Maintaining hydration is essential, especially when treating acne. Dry, dehydrated skin clogs the pores more easily and is harder to exfoliate. Acne Regimen Kit #1 incudes Totaloe, a hydrating gel moisturizer the sinks in the skin without clogging pores or leaving you feeling greasy.

Optional ClearStem MindBodySkin Supplement

For persistent acne that flares hormonally, we recommend adding ClearStem’s MindBodySkin Supplement to your regimen.

This all-natural hormonal acne supplement is effective for both men and women to reduce inflammation, oil production and balance hormones.

Always consult with your physician before starting any new supplements.

What to Expect

This comprehensive synergistic system will improve skin's look and health while targeting acne, hyperpigmentation and photoaging.

When you first begin using a dermatological product, your skin will go through a period of acclimation as it adjusts to the new ingredients. The skin may appear rosy and pink. There may be some dryness, tightness, and itching, as well as some light flaking or exfoliation. That’s desirable. These are the signs of cellular regeneration and real change in your skin. You will not see the desired results without some of these signs of acclimation occurring. If, however, your skin is stinging or inflamed, reduce usage to once a day every other day and gradually ramp back up to daily usage.
